Avondale, Arizona
Avondale is a modern city, near the heart of the Phoenix-metropolitan area. The current population is more than 76,000, and is expected to reach 123,000 by the year 2020. That rapid growth makes Avondale one of the fastest-growing communities in the Valley, and the nation. Like most cities in the valley, Avondale has its historic district and lots of new amenities. From the soccer fields of Friendship Park to the high excitement of Phoenix International Raceway (PIR), Avondale has something for everyone. PIR is billed as the world?s fastest one-mile paved oval and plays host to multiple NASCAR events annually, each attracting nearly 400,000 enthusiasts and hundreds of race teams, contributing hundreds of millions of dollars into the state and local economy. Most of Avondale has easy access to Interstate 10. Currently, there is a proposed plan to build a new 801 freeway which will run along side of Southern Ave. The new freeway will make driving from the West Valley to the edge of the city possible without driving through downtown. I have seen this city grow since I arrived in 2003. I look forward to seeing how Avondale will mature in the years to come.
